As of now, the 2023 Chargers Labor Day Tournament is on as planned. The fields are wet, but they are starting to drain. The tournament will happen, we just might have to work through some field closures if certain fields at the complex don’t drain in time for Saturday kickoff. If we do have some field closures, there is a possibility of some schedule changes to accommodate. Games might get moved to later Saturday night on fields with lights and some Saturday games might get moved to Sunday. There will be many factors in making these changes such as coaching conflicts and rest between games on Sunday if you end up with 2 games on Sunday. There are a lot of moving pieces, so we will try our best to work through as many coaching conflicts as possible if we do end up having to make changes to the schedule. We ask for everyone’s flexibility if we end up making changes due to field closures.
As of now the schedule is normal. We will provide another update tonight once we see how the fields drain today. If we end up making any scheduling changes, we will try to have the updated schedule ready by Friday at 1pm. If we do make changes, we won’t be making any teams come earlier than their current scheduled start time, it would just be moving games later or to Sunday.
Stay tuned for another update tonight.
